PeriOp Coordinator (Full-Time)
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the under the supervision of the Perianesthesia Manager and/or designated member(s) of the surgical services patient care team, the PeriOp Coordinator performs a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties relative to the operation of the preoperative and postoperative departments. The PeriOp Coordinator ensures a professional and efficient operation of the department in providing quality patient care in the preparation of the patient for surgery. The PeriOp Coordinator must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide indirect care appropriate to the surgical patient population along with their family members and /or those that accompany the patient. As a PeriOp Coordinator, you will act as the HPH Liaison for select Physician offices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Education: High School graduate or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
- 1-2 years clerical or administrative experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record experience preferred.
- Computer knowledge: Microsoft

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The PeriOP Coordinator performs the following duties; including but not limited to, answering phones, collaborating with health care team members and other departments to facility patient tests and appointments, maintaining results and following up on disposition of these results in the surgical/ medical record.

- Contacts patients via telephone in a timely and professional manner based on referrals received from the scheduling department and physician office(s).
- Schedules patients for the services ordered using resource scheduling module located within the Allscripts electronic medical platform.
- Informs physician office staff and /or patient of any testing requirements according to the instructions and queries in the scheduling module.
- Pre-register patients according to policy and procedures.
- Work closely with the physician office staff to submit required pre-admission paperwork prior to the date of service. These items include history and physical, pre-admission orders and special equipment/implant needs.
- Maintain open communication with the pre-admission nurses regarding scheduled patients ensure appropriate and timely scheduling of pre-admission testing appointments.
- Maintain excellent records and provide daily / timely feedback to physician offices.
- Ensure all pertinent patient information is complete and forwarded to the appropriate departments for surgical and diagnostic procedures.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients, parents, other employees, hospital staff and physicians.
- Perform general office duties such as answering telephones.
- Perform all other duties necessary for a smooth and efficient office as directed by their supervisor.
